f.lux and Twilight

Research has suggested that nighttime exposure to the blue light from our various electronic devices can disrupt sleep or exacerbate existing sleep disorders.

f.lux makes the colour of your device’s display adapt to the time of day: warm at night and like sunlight during the day. The program is free for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Android users looking for a similar app may want to investigate Twilight.
