So Long, Blackboard…

Did you know that the University’s learning management system (LMS), Blackboard 8, is due to be replaced this summer? And that the eLearning Discovery Working Group wants your input on the next LMS? Here are some ways for you to participate in the process:

You can watch the LMS vendor demos, where representatives from 4 of the leading LMS vendors (Instructure Canvas, Moodle, Desire2Learn, and Blackboard) demonstrated their latest software.

You can register for one of several hands-on workshops (held the week of March 26-30, 2012), where you will have the opportunity to try out each of the 4 potential replacements.

Want to try them out from home instead?

Blackboard

student username: student
student password: uofcdemo

Canvas

student username: student
student password: uofcdemo

Moodle

student username: student
student password: UofC=demo1

Desire2Learn

student username: student
student password: uofcdemo

If you use assistive technology (like Zoomtext, JAWS, or Kurzweil) to access web content, test out these LMS with that technology.

Lastly, complete a requirements survey to let the Working Group know what works for you and, more importantly, what does not work for you. This is a great opportunity to let the University know which tools and resources you require in an LMS in order to meet your specific eLearning needs.
