These Program Service 1 positions provide support to a wide range of operations within the within the Government of Alberta. The responsibilities assigned to a role may be focused on one type of work or may be a combination to support the work in the following areas:
Reclamation Application Support, Calgary (2 positions)
Supporting the Ministry of Environment and Parks, your diploma in Environmental Technology, Earth Sciences, Chemistry, or Biology and your knowledge of related environmental legislation and regulations will assist as you review files/applications, complete data entry on Environmental Management Systems (EMS), collect and analyze information to determine compliance and complete reporting processes.
Preservation & Research Technician, Drumheller
Equipped with a degree in Palaeontology, biology, geology, or a degree/diploma in information technology, you’re familiar with technology that is utilized to replicate fossil specimens, while capturing digital data related to fieldwork (photogrammetry, 3D modelling, GIS). Your base of experience in conducting basic research along with strong communication skills will enable you to share findings with Preservation and Research staff.
Communications Advisor, Edmonton
Equipped with a degree or diploma in humanities, social sciences or public relations you will utilize your strong writing skills and critical analysis skills to support the Ministry of Communications and Public Engagement. This engaging work may include research and analysis, correspondence, video editing, public engagement, social media, web copy writing, marketing and advertising.
Junior Advocate Representative, Edmonton
An excellent opportunity to bring your experience advocating for persons with disabilities to support the programs of Community and Social Services. Your commitment to quality improvement and ability to work as a team member will be an asset. You are a self-directed individual with knowledge of the policy and procedures of the Office of the Advocate with a diploma or Bachelor of Arts, Social Work, Community Rehabilitation or Public Policy.
Policy & Research Assistant, Edmonton
Community and Social Services is seeking an individual with strong internet web browsing and scanning abilities, who can work independently and remotely using online tools. Equipped with a high school diploma, you’ll utilize your skills with Microsoft Office applications and your solid communication skills to develop presentations, support research activities, prepare responses to public inquires, interpret information, legislation and policies to create briefing, summary reports and draft responses.
Junior Grant Officer, Edmonton
Equipped with a high school diploma, or post secondary degree or diploma, you will be producing work to support the Ministry of Culture, Multiculturalism, Status of Women. You’ll effectively conduct program and policy research, collect data, prepare briefing packages, written reports, correspondence and presentations while supporting the department on strategic initiatives and research projects.
Accessibility and Digital Information Consultant, Edmonton
Supporting Municipal Affairs, you will possess a two year diploma in a related field such as Information Management or Library Technology. Experience working in a library environment is a strong asset as is experience working with technology including PC’s, mobile devices, e-readers, and Microsoft Office applications. A sound knowledge of public library planning and the Libraries Act and Regulation is desirable.
Policy Assistant, Edmonton
As a policy assistant for the Ministry of Health, you will utilize your diploma or degree in Social Sciences, Business, Public Administration or Public Health to support the work of our policy analysts. Success in this role will utilize your experience in environmental scanning, research and analysis, evaluation, and project management experience. Knowledge of the continuing care sector, health service delivery, health legislation/regulation, health care or business strategies will be assets in this position.
Program Advisor, Edmonton
Supporting the Ministry of Labour and Immigration and equipped with post secondary education in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Law, or related area you will bring your ability to effectively review, analyze and assess technical information including reports, records and applications. Knowledge of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and regulation and policies governing immigration in Canada would be an asset.
Policy Assistant, Edmonton
Supporting the Public Service Commission and equipped with a high school diploma or post secondary diploma, you will effectively research, collect and analyze information. You’ll develop written materials to support governance, recruitment and compensation associated with agencies, boards and commissions (ABC’s). You’ll also assist with drafting briefing materials, presentations while reviewing and understanding legislation and regulations involving (ABC’s).
Service Enhancement Advisor, Edmonton
Supporting the Public Service Commission, your project management and strong research skills will help you excel in this position. HR experience is an asset and a related 2 year diploma as well as experience working with Microsoft Office, Outlook is required. Additional experience working with SharePoint, Visio, and Success Factors are an asset.

Supporting the Ministry of Transportation, and having completed a high school diploma, the Junior Policy Analyst will support projects, initiatives and strategies related to the effective delivery of services related to driver education, driver knowledge testing, driver licensing and rules of the road.
Issues and Connectivity Coordinator, Edmonton
Supporting the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Issues and Connectivity Coordinator assists with project coordination, while acting as a liaison to support the Assistant Deputy Minister’s office to manage and engage on issues, division workflows, special projects and provide support on operational and policy files as required. Equipped with a high school diploma, you’ll research, collect and analyze data and information and assist with preparing briefing packages, written reports and presentations.
Training and Technical Advisor, Edmonton
The ministry of Municipal Affairs is seeking an individual with strong computer and technological skills (webinar platforms, audiovisual hardware.) Equipped with a high school diploma, you’ll utilize your skills with Microsoft Office applications to assist with reviewing training material, information gathering, and ensuring website information and internal databases are updated.
