Summer Opportunities at NUTV

NUTV is now accepting applications to hire full-time Summer Students for paid positions running from May-August under a pending grant from Canada Summer Jobs. Eligible candidates must be students who are returning to school in the Fall.

The positions are: Summer Film School Coordinator, Script Coordinator, Archive Data Technician, Digital Content Coordinator, and Community Outreach Manager. More information on each position is available on the NUTV website.

The positions pay $13.50 per hour, 35 hours per week, for 16 weeks.

Ready to graduate or thinking about your future career? This interactive workshop offers students with disabilities and/or medical conditions a great opportunity to hear from employers who are passionate about recruiting, empowering, and retaining employees with disabilities, and to meet some of the great community resources available to help with navigating employment with a disability!  Discussion topics will include:

  • Duty to accommodate and what organizations can do to support the diverse needs of their employees
  • Disclosure of disability – a conversation about how much employees should/need to share, and when?
  • Empowering and positioning yourself to choose a great employer
  • First person perspective from professionals with a disability/medical condition – Colleen from SAIT and Jennifer from U of C Wellness Centre

This highly interactive session will be in roundtable format, where 4-5 students will have the opportunity to connect with 2 employers per table. Open networking will commence once the formal roundtable portion has concluded.

Breaking it Down: Dialogues on Removing Barriers for People With Disabilities in the Workplace

The National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS), with host the University of Calgary Graduate Students’ Association (GSA), invites post-secondary students and recent graduates with disabilities at all levels, career educators and representatives from federally regulated private sector employers to a one day innovative and interactive workshop “Breaking it Down (BID): Dialogues on removing barriers for people with disabilities in the workplace”, to be held at the University of Calgary, Calgary, Alberta on Friday, April 1 in the Senate Room, 7th Floor, Hotel Alma, 169 University Gate NW from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

During this event, students and employers will have the opportunity to hear from both lived experience and employer experts on topics such as: Personal Branding and Social Media; Disclosure and Accommodation In The Workplace; Job Interviews; Soft Skills: Challenges in the Workplace; Professional Development; Barriers and Focused Career Transitions; Moving On From Entry Level.

This event is free to post-secondary students and recent graduates with disabilities (within less than 5 years after graduation).

Shell Recruitment Session

Shell is looking for remarkable students and graduates to join Shell Recruitment for an informal luncheon to learn about how you can become a part of their friendly and dynamic work environment.

Shell recruitment will be present to discuss the topic of disabilities in the workplace, and how Shell supports and encourages their employees. The Shell Graduate Program and the recruitment process will also be discussed in detail.
